FVD is one of the largest divisions within the Bureau of Specialized Prosecutions.  The mission of FVD is to vertically prosecute the most serious and complex cases involving intimate partner abuse, assaultive conduct between household family members, and child abuse. We also provide training, consultation, and support services for prosecutors, Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), law enforcement, and a variety of organizations working with victims of domestic violence and child abuse.

Cases are handled at 12 different court locations, separated into three regions.

North Region: Antelope Valley, Central, San Fernando, Van Nuys

East Region: Alhambra, Norwalk, Pasadena, Pomona

South Region: Airport, Compton, Long Beach, Torrance

FVD is also home to the Complex Child Abuse Section (CCAS) and the Electronic Suspected Child Abuse Reports Unit (ESCARS).
