June 15, 2026: Former Businessman Charged With 2009 Murder of Lawyer Jeffrey Tidus in Rancho Palos Verdes

LOS ANGELES – A man believed to be the mastermind behind the execution-style slayings of attorney Jeffrey Tidus outside of his Rolling Hills Estates home in 2009 and an ex-employee who had filed a class action lawsuit for unpaid overtime in 2011 has been charged with their murders. He also is a suspect in a third murder committed in Las Vegas.

June 12, 2026: District Attorney Hochman Calls on California Legislature to Pass LADA-Sponsored Public Safety Bills

SACRAMENTO — Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman today urged the California legislature to pass and Governor Newsom to sign six bipartisan bills sponsored by the Office to strengthen accountability for human labor traffickers, corporate polluters, drunk drivers, animal abusers and peace officers and strengthen prosecutorial agencies’ investigations into wrongful conviction claims. All six bipartisan bills unanimously passed their house of origin.

June 11, 2026: District Attorney Hochman Files Application to Intervene in the LA County Child Sex Abuse Litigation in Order to Temporarily Stop Payments for Potentially Fraudulent Claims in the More Than $4 Billion Settlement

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman filed a motion yesterday  asking a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge to stay payments of the more than $4 billion settlement of child sex abuse claims against Los Angeles County until December 31, 2026, while the Office investigates significant allegations of fraud in a very significant majority of these cases.

June 10, 2026: Man Convicted of 2018 Attempted Murders, Standoff at Trader Joe’s in Silver Lake

LOS ANGELES – A 36-year-old man was found guilty yesterday of the 2018 attempted murders of his grandmother and girlfriend prior to a standoff at a Silver Lake Trader Joe’s where he held shoppers hostage inside for more than three hours.

June 5, 2026: Federal Jury Convicts Four MS-13 Members in Triple Murder

LOS ANGELES — A federal jury has found four members of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) guilty of carrying out three gruesome murders in the Angeles National Forest in 2017, including the killing of a victim whose heart was carved from his chest. Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Eric W. Siddall prosecuted the case as a cross-designee in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, serving as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.

TARZANA, Calif. – A 44-year-old man was charged today with fatally stabbing his mother’s elderly boyfriend, actor James Handy, outside a Tarzana home earlier this week.

June 5, 2026: Judge Dismisses Indictment Against Former LAPD Officer Charged in 2015 Fatal Shooting of Homeless Man in Venice

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge dismissed an indictment today against former Los Angeles Police Officer Clifford Proctor who was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Brendon Glenn during an altercation in Venice more than a decade ago.

June 4, 2026: State’s Highest Court Lets Stand Ruling That Los Angeles Judge Abused Discretion in Granting Mental Health Diversion To Charged Attempted Murderer

LOS ANGELES — A man accused of a violent, racially motivated rampage in Santa Monica will face trial after the California Supreme Court declined to review an appellate court ruling agreeing with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office that the trial judge abused her discretion in granting pretrial mental health diversion. The published 2nd District Court of Appeal decision remains binding law and citable throughout the state of California.

June 3, 2026: Jury Convicts Man of Murdering Two Unhoused Men and Attempting to Kill a Third in Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — A jury today found Clifford Chaun Loyer guilty on all counts and found true the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders for a 2024 two-day shooting spree in downtown Los Angeles that left two unhoused men dead and a third seriously wounded.

LOS ANGELES — A 29-year-old man has been charged with violently assaulting five different women at UCLA, four of them students, within the span of one hour. The defendant is not a student and did not have permission to be on campus.
