July 25, 2024: District Attorney Gascón Announces Charges Against Men in Murder of Street Vendor in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Rahman Abdallah and Raylon Akers have been charged with allegedly murdering a street corn vendor, Yener Ramirez, in the city of Long Beach on March 20. Another man, James Havlicheck, also was charged with accessory after the fact in the killing of Ramirez.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Maria Torres is charged with allegedly assaulting an inmate with pepper spray at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in the city of Los Angeles on January 20, 2022, and then falsifying a report regarding the incident.

July 16, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man Who Targeted Two Los Angeles Police Officers With Machine Gun in Willowbrook

WILLOWBROOK, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Malcolm Darnell Guss, Jr., is charged with shooting at Los Angeles police officers Stefan Carutasu and Joshua Rodney during a traffic stop on July 3 in Willowbrook, an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County.

CANOGA PARK, CA- Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that a woman has been charged with murder in the deaths of her three-year-old twin sons who were allegedly exposed to drugs laced with fentanyl, the highly potent synthetic opioid.

July 12, 2024: Inglewood Teacher Charles Wright Convicted of Murdering a Woman and Sexually Assaulting Another Woman in 2005, 2006

INGLEWOOD, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Charles Wright, a former Inglewood middle school teacher, was convicted by a jury on July 10 of murdering 21-year-old Pertina Epps on April 26, 2005, and kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman on September 17, 2006.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced that Jameelah Michl was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kerry White to 35 years to life in state prison in the shooting and killing of Michael Latt during an attack in his home in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles in November 2023.
