July 13, 2022: Former Downey Police Detective Charged With Witness Tampering
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that his office has charged a former Downey police detective for witness tampering.
“We have a duty to hold accountable anyone who tries to illegally influence the judicial process for their own benefit or the benefit of others,” District Attorney Gascón said. “It is especially troubling when a police officer is charged with crimes that threaten the integrity of our legal system.”
Eduardo Castro was charged yesterday with one felony count of witness tampering. Arraignment is set for August 11 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
The case remains under investigation by the Downey Police Department.
