November 20, 2020: Sheriff’s Deputy Charged With Off-Duty Rape

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with an off-duty sexual assault of a young woman two years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Jason Ghassan Kailany (dob 3/9/94) was charged in case BA491489 with one count each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation. He made his initial court appearance today and his arraignment is now scheduled for January 15 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

The case was filed for warrant on November 18.

Deputy District Attorney Rachel Greene of the Justice System Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

On Oct. 24, 2018, the defendant is accused of raping a female acquaintance at his residence.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 16 years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
