October 8, 2024: Long Beach Safety Officer Sentenced in Shooting Death of 18-Year-Old Woman Near Millikan High School

LONG BEACH, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that a Long Beach Unified School safety officer, Eddie Gonzalez, was sentenced to three years in prison by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Goulafter he pleaded no contest to one count of voluntary manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Manuela Rodriguez. Rodriguez was shot as she left an altercation near Millikan High School in September 2021.

October 8, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Los Angeles Police Officer in On-Duty Assault During Domestic Violence Response

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Los Angeles Police Officer Garo Garabedian is charged with assaulting a suspect and seriously injuring him while responding to a domestic violence call in the city of Los Angeles in May 2023.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that a jury has convicted Ronald Anthony Jones of murder in the shooting death of 26-year-old Lois Haro, who was raped and killed after being kidnapped by Jones and his accomplice in 1988 at the Plaza Pasadena mall.

October 2, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Retired Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy in Sexual Assault of Minor

LANCASTER, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that retired Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Benny Vincente Caluya, Jr. is charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in August in the city of Lancaster. Caluya and a second man, Clifford Leimana Abihai, also are charged with providing methamphetamine to the minor.
