December 13, 2024: DA Hochman Announces LA County Teacher and Arcadia Youth Soccer Coach Charged with Child Pornography
LA County teacher and girls’ soccer coach Justin Akio Yasutake is charged with possessing over 600 images of child sexual abuse on his electronic devices
LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced today that Justin Yasutake, a teacher and girls’ soccer coach, has been charged with possessing videos and images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including images of a minor under 12 years old. Yasutake worked as a youth soccer coach in the city of Arcadia and other school settings in LA County.
“Child pornography will not be tolerated in LA County, and individuals who exploit children will be vigorously prosecuted, especially when they are educators who hold positions of trust in the community,” District Attorney Hochman said. “We believe there are additional victims and I urge anyone with information on this case to contact law enforcement as soon as possible. Our Cyber Crimes Division will hold offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Justin Akio Yasutake (DOB 7/2/85) is charged in case 24CJCF07596with one felony count of possession of child or youth pornography. It is further alleged that Yasutake possessed more than 600 images of child sexual abuse, including 10 or more images of a prepubescent minor or a minor who was under 12 years of age.
On or about November 12, Arcadia police executed a search warrant on Yasutake’s electronic devices and discovered multiple videos and photos of child sexual abuse.
Yasutake was arrested on December 11.
Arraignment is scheduled December 23 in Dept. 30 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum sentence ofsix years in state prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
The case is being prosecuted by the office’s Cyber Crimes Division and investigated by the Arcadia Police Department.
