MONROVIA, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that a man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing a father of six outside his own home in Monrovia.

“I’m deeply saddened by the tragic loss of an innocent husband and father of six, who was senselessly shot and killed outside his own home,” District Attorney Gascón said. “I extend my deepest condolences to the victim’s family and assure you that we are here to support you in any way that we can. Such heinous acts of violence have no place in our society and will not be tolerated. We are committed to seeking justice for the victim and his family and will work tirelessly to ensure that the individual responsible for this heinous crime is held accountable.”

Christopher Wiggan (dob 9/6/1981) is charged with one count of murder in case 24PDCF00313. He faces an additional allegation that he personally used a firearm in the commission of that crime.

Wiggan pleaded not guilty during his arraignment today. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing setting conference on June 20 in Dept. H of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.

The defendant was remanded into custody without bail. If convicted as charged, he faces life in prison.

On June 2, 2024 at 9:22 p.m., Nicolas Gandara, 38, tried to quell an argument between the defendant and a resident on Duarte Road when Wiggan allegedly shot Gandara in the neck, killing him. The defendant fled but was arrested the following afternoon when he returned to the scene.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.
