March 6, 2020: Pomona Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Foster Child

A Pomona man has been charged with sexually abusing a foster child from ages 14 to 17, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Deputy District Attorney Kelsey McKeever-Unger said Carlos Nava (dob 10/6/89) faces four counts of lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15 and three counts of oral copulation of a person under 18.

Nava pleaded not guilty to the charges today and is scheduled to return on April 9 in Department N of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch. Case KA124241 was filed for warrant yesterday.

The alleged abuse occurred between December 2017 and May 2019, according to the criminal complaint. Nava is a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Bail is set at $250,000. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Pomona Police Department.
