A massage therapist accused of performing an illegal buttocks enhancement on a woman who later died has been charged with murder, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Lee Cernok said Sandra Yaneth Pérez-González aka Sandra Yaneth Slaughter (dob 10/16/68) of Long Beach faces one count of murder in case NA105844.

Arraignment is scheduled this afternoon in Department S01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. The case was filed for warrant on Feb. 14.

On Feb. 12, 2014, victim Hamilet Suarez, 36, of Long Beach died after undergoing the alleged cosmetic work at a Long Beach beauty salon, the prosecutor said. The defendant, who is not a licensed doctor, is alleged to have advertised various cosmetic procedures such as buttocks and lip enhancements and “vampire facelifts,” the prosecutor added.

If convicted as charged, Pérez faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison. The prosecutor is recommending bail bail be set at $2 million.

The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.
