A 30-year-old man was sentenced today to four years and four months in state prison for driving under the influence of alcohol and fatally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Kenneth Sean Trumbull of Pomona pleaded no contest on July 28 to a felony count of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury in case KA107570.

The defendant also admitted a special allegation that he personally inflicted great bodily injury to an elderly victim during the commission of the crime.

Prosecutors said on July 22, 2014, Trumbull was driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck a pedestrian with his car in Pomona.

The victim, Jose C. Delgado, 78, died at the scene, prosecutors said.

Following the collision, the defendant called 911 and stayed at the scene. Authorities interviewed the defendant and subsequently arrested him in connection with the fatal crash, prosecutors said.

The case was investigated by the Pomona Police Department.
