A suspected Temple Street gang member has been charged in connection with the shooting of a 22-year-old man after a showing of the movie “Furious 7” at the Burbank Town Center, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Albert Michael Vasquez (dob 5/26/90) was charged yesterday with one count each of assault with a firearm, criminal threats and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The complaint in case GA096019 alleges the defendant used a Derringer handgun, caused great bodily injury and that the offense was committed for the benefit of, at the direction of, and in association of a criminal street gang.

Vasquez pleaded not guilty and is due to return on April 21 to Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Burbank Branch.

On April 4, Vasquez, accompanied by others, allegedly confronted a group which included the victim and threatened the victim while brandishing a handgun, prosecutors said. The defendant is accused of then shooting the victim in the thigh, prosecutors added.

Bail was set at $1.18 million. If convicted as charged, Vasquez faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 24 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Burbank Police Department.
