May 7, 2025: Felony Charges Filed Against Man Accused of Stalking, Crashing Into Bel Air Home
If convicted as charged, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle faces three years in state prison
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced today that felony charges have been filed against a Mississippi man accused of stalking a woman and crashing his vehicle into the front gate of her Bel-Air residence.
“Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities,” District Attorney Hochman said. “My office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorize others, ensuring they are held accountable.”
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle (dob 7/1/76) of New Albany, Mississippi, is charged with one count each of felony stalking and felony vandalism in case 25ARCF00790. He faces an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm. Carwyle’s arraignment is set for May 8 in Dept. 30 of the Airport Courthouse. Prosecutors intend to request the Court set statutory bail at $150,000.
Between March 1, 2023, and May 5, 2025, Carwyle is accused of repeatedly harassing the victim, Jennifer A., sending her unwanted social media, voicemail, and email messages.
On May 5, at around 12:20 p.m., the alleged harassment culminated when he allegedly crashed his vehicle through her front gate, causing substantial damage, and stopped in her driveway. He was arrested by her security guard before law enforcement arrived.
If convicted as charged, Carwyle faces three years in state prison.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Sam Hulefeld of LADA’s Stalking and Threat Assessment Team.
“I want to thank law enforcement and our Stalking and Threat Assessment Team, particularly Deputy District Attorney Sam Hulefeld, for their outstanding work in this case,” District Attorney Hochman added. “By working together, we are ensuring that dangerous individuals are taken off our streets.”
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
In accordance with office policy, the District Attorney’s Office identifies stalking victims by first name and last initial only, to protect their safety and privacy.
