If convicted as charged, Sean Farzan faces life in prison without the possibility of parole
VAN NUYS, CA — District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced today that a 64-year-old man has been charged with murdering his 54-year-old wife as she left a religious meeting in Encino with their young son.
“This was a tragic and deeply disturbing shooting that took place in front of a child,” District Attorney Hochman said. “No family should ever have to endure such a tragedy. We will do everything in our power to ensure that the person responsible is held fully accountable for this senseless and brutal crime. We will continue to support the victim’s loved ones as this case moves forward.”
Sean Farzan (DOB 10/28/60) of Santa Monica was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death in case 25VWCF00183. The case was filed Feb. 10. He is being held without bail. Farzan’s arraignment is set for Feb. 20, Dept. 100 of the Van Nuys Courthouse.
If convicted as charged, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On Feb. 5, Farzan allegedly shot and killed his wife, Linda Farzan, amid their pending divorce as she left a religious meeting in Encino with their teen son. He fled on foot but was arrested nearby.
The case is being prosecuted by the Family Violence Division and was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
