WOODLAND HILLS, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced today that Evan Hardman, Sarallah Jawed and Ashley Rose Sweeting are charged in the death of Dr. Hamid Mirshojae outside of his Woodland Hills medical clinic on August 23.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Dr. Hamid Mirshojae’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and we vow to seek justice for these heinous acts with the full force of the legal system,” said District Attorney Nathan Hochman. “We understand that no words can fully ease the pain the victim’s family is experiencing, but please know that we stand with you as you navigate this unimaginable grief. This tragic event underscores the devastating impact of violent crime on our community, and I want to make it clear: these crimes will not be tolerated. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect the well-being of every individual in Los Angeles County.”

Evan Hardman (DOB 11/17/83) and Sarallah Jawed (DOB 5/15/98) are charged in case 24CJCF07624 with one felony count each of murder, and one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon.

It is further alleged that the murder of Dr. Mirshojae was intentional and was carried out by Hardman and Jawed for financial gain. It also is alleged that Hardman intentionally killed the victim by means of lying in wait, and personally and intentionally used and discharged a handgun which caused death to Dr. Mirshojae.

Ashley Rose Sweeting (DOB 7/11/84) also is charged in the case with one felony count of accessory after the fact (knowledge of crime).

On August 23, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Dr. Mirshojae was walking out of his Woodland Hills medical clinic toward his vehicle when Hardman allegedly approached the victim from behind and shot him. Dr. Mirshojae died from the gunshot. Sweeting allegedly drove Hardman to and from the scene of the crime and Jawed helped facilitate the murder and drove Hardman out of state a few days after the murder.

A few months prior to the murder, on May 3, Hardman and Jawed allegedly assaulted Dr. Mishojae with a blunt object.

Hardman was arrested on December 10 in Texas and is awaiting extradition. Jawed was arrested on December 11, and Sweeting was arrested on December 10.

The People are requesting that the court hold Hardman and Jawed on no bail; and are requesting $1,000,000 bail for Sweeting.

Sweeting was arraigned December 12 and pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing is scheduled December 24 in Dept. 50 of the Clara Foltz Shortridge Criminal Justice Center. Jawed is scheduled to be arraigned today in Dept. 30.

The case is being prosecuted by the office's Major Crimes Division and investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
