A 25-year-old woman admitted today to shooting her boyfriend to death in the parking lot of a Canoga Park bar last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Reyanna Villarreal (dob 1/6/93) of Newhall pleaded no contest to one count of involuntary manslaughter and admitted an allegation of using a firearm before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Terrell.

Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer, who prosecuted the case, said Villarreal is expected to be sentenced to five years in state prison under the terms of the negotiated plea agreement on Jan. 22 in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch.

The defendant shot her boyfriend, 20-year-old Jose Mendoza, on March 5 in a parking lot near a bar in the 22000 block of Roscoe Boulevard. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Case PA090560 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
