May 23, 2014: Woman Charged with Killing Her Young Children

A 30-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her three young daughters and attempting to kill her own mother was charged today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Carol Ann Coronado (dob 10/24/83) is charged in case TA133425 with three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. The felony complaint includes a special circumstance of multiple murders. Additionally, the charging document contains a special allegation that the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, in the commission of the crime.

At this time, Coronado is hospitalized. It is unknown when she will be able to appear for her arraignment at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Compton.

Deputy District Attorney Emily Spear is assigned to the case.

The District Attorney’s office will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against the defendant.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
