A 59-year-old man has pleaded no contest in connection with a domestic violence incident at his West Hollywood home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney David Berger said Mitchell Gareth Grobeson entered the plea yesterday to one misdemeanor count of criminal threats.

Grobeson, who is a retired Los Angeles police sergeant, was immediately sentenced to 36 months of summary probation and ordered to surrender all weapons for 10 years and continue mental health counseling.

Following a domestic dispute on March 4, 2016, the defendant threatened his husband and forced him to leave their home, the prosecutor said. The victim then contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to seek help in gathering some of his belongings from the home, the prosecutor added.

When deputies arrived, Grobeson barricaded himself inside of the house for approximately three hours before surrendering.

Case number SA092403 was investigated by the Sheriff’s Department’s West Hollywood Division.
