October 11, 2018: San Diego Man Sentenced for Death of Motorcyclist in Wrong Way DUI Crash

A DUI driver was sentenced today to four years and four months in state prison for the death of a motorcyclist on the 405 Freeway in Torrance, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Gabriel Anthony Fajardo, 22, of San Diego pleaded guilty on June 22 to one felony count each of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury.

Fajardo also admitted inflicting great bodily injury upon the victim, Nicholas Phillip Mann, 57.

On Feb. 4, Fajardo was driving his pickup truck northbound in the carpool lane of the southbound 405 Freeway near Artesia Boulevard when he crashed into Mann, prosecutors said.

Case YA097650 was investigated by the California Highway Patrol, South Los Angeles Station.
