A parolee who stole a Bentley belonging to celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels was sentenced today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Matthew Vodnoy said Gerjuan Deshon Harmon, 31, was sentenced to 17 years in state prison for case LA071371.

On June 16, a jury found Harmon guilty of one count each of first-degree burglary, person present and grand theft of personal property.

On Dec. 16, 2013, a previous jury was unable to reach a verdict on those counts but did find the defendant guilty of one count each of unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle, evading an officer and hit-and-run and two counts of resisting an officer.

The 2011 Bentley GT was taken on July 3, 2012 from Michaels’ Malibu home. Harmon had stolen a number of her personal effects, including a purse containing the car keys, while the victim and her family watched television in another room, according to trial testimony. The next morning, Michaels discovered her home had been burglarized.

Harmon was arrested on July 4 after Burbank police began pursuing the reported stolen Bentley.

During the pursuit, the defendant crashed the car, jumped out and fled on foot. He ran into a shed and was captured after scuffling with police, the prosecutor said.

At the time Harmon was on parole for a prior burglary conviction.

The case was investigated by the Burbank Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s departments.
