LANCASTER, CA – A murder felony complaint for extradition arrest warrant has been filed against a 36-year-old man who allegedly fled to Peru after killing his wife last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

The California Board of Parole Hearings conducted proceedings by video conference in Sacramento today, with Erik Menendez appearing from the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. Tomorrow, Lyle Menendez will go before the Board. Assistant Head Deputy District Attorney Habib Balian presented our office’s arguments remotely from the Hall of Justice in Los Angeles.

August 20, 2025: Two Men and a Woman Receive LADA’s Courage Awards in Westchester

WESTCHESTER, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman today recognized a woman who witnessed and intervened in a brutal domestic violence attack at the hands of a family member, a convenience store employee who helped stop the kidnapping of a woman and her baby, and a construction worker who jumped into action and apprehended a suspect who randomly attacked a co-worker.

We have consistently opposed their release because they have not demonstrated full insight into their crimes or shown that they have been fully rehabilitated, and therefore continue to pose a risk to society. We will evaluate our final position based on the evidence presented at the hearing.
