May 29, 2013: Man Charged in Child’s Stabbing Death

Prosecutors today charged a 26-year-old Los Angeles man with the stabbing death of his girlfriend’s young son, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Rineson Curtis Adams (dob 9/22/86) is charged with one count of willful, deliberate and premeditated murder with a special allegation of personal use of a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife. Adams also faces one count of felony child abuse.

The defendant is expected to be arraigned this afternoon in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30. He is charged in case BA411789.

The charging document further alleges that Adams has three prior felony convictions, including two convictions for transportation and sale of a controlled substance in 2008 and 1996, and one conviction for burglary in 1996.

Adams is accused of stabbing the 11-year-old boy on May 27. The case will be prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Carolina Lugo of the Family Violence Division.

If convicted as charged, Adams faces a maximum state prison term of 64 years to life. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
