A man was charged today in connection with a string of attacks on Metro buses last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Hector Resendez (dob 2/24/90) is charged in case BA426693 with 13 counts, including five counts of attempted murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon and three counts of battery.

He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Prosecutors said Resendez assaulted eight bus passengers around Los Angeles between June 16 and June 27. In several of the attacks, Resendez allegedly stabbed the victims with a screwdriver. Some of the victims were taken to area hospitals, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.

If convicted of all counts, Resendez faces multiple life sentences. Prosecutors are recommending bail be set at $5.1 million.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
