If convicted as charged, Jaylee Brackman faces up to three years in state prison

LONG BEACH, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced that a Long Beach school aide who worked with children with disabilities was charged today with felony possession of child pornography.

“This defendant held a position of trust with some of the most vulnerable children in our community,” District Attorney Hochman said. “The exploitation of children in any form is absolutely unacceptable, and my office will aggressively prosecute anyone involved in this kind of predatory behavior. I want to thank Deputy District Attorney Ethan Milius of our Cyber Crime Division and the Los Angeles Police Department for their outstanding work in this deeply disturbing case.”

Jaylee Brackman (dob 6/8/02) of Long Beach is charged in case 25CJCF03263 with one felony count of possession of child or youth pornography. Brackman pleaded not guilty during her arraignment today. Her preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for June 17 in Department 41 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

If convicted as charged, Brackman faces up to three years in state prison. Her bail was set at $20,000 with strict conditions, including no unsupervised contact with minors, a prohibition on possessing any pornography, and a waiver allowing law enforcement to search her electronic communication devices at any time without probable cause or reasonable suspicion.

Brackman was arrested June 3 by Los Angeles police officers after a search of an apartment in Long Beach allegedly uncovered illicit material on her electronic devices. Brackman was employed by the Long Beach Unified School District as a school aide and had direct access to children with disabilities.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ethan Milius of the Cyber Crime Division and remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone who may be a victim or has information on the case is urged to call LAPD’s Harbor Vice Division at 213-280-1501.
