February 28, 2018: Lake Los Angeles Man Charged in Wife’s Murder

A Lake Los Angeles man has been charged with fatally shooting his wife, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Michael Daniel Mayberry (dob 12/8/81) was charged yesterday with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. The murder charge includes an allegation of using a firearm, a handgun, causing great bodily injury or death.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on March 19 in Department A1 of Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch in case MA073301.

Prosecutors said Mayberry killed his wife, Sandy Mayberry, on Sunday at their home in northeastern Los Angeles County.

Bail was set at $2 million. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 50 years and eight months to life in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Bureau.
