October 1, 2019: Glendale Woman Charged with Vandalism for Racist Graffiti

A woman was charged today with vandalizing city and church property in Glendale with racist comments, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Jackie Rita Williams (dob 3/20/54) of Glendale faces six misdemeanor counts of vandalism under $400 damage and one misdemeanor count of violation of civil rights in case 9GD03857.

Arraignment is scheduled today in Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Glendale Branch.

Williams allegedly defaced a statue and other property belonging to the City of Glendale, the Armenian American Council on Aging and the Joyful Christian Community Church between Sept. 16 and 27, prosecutors said.

The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in jail. Bail is requested at $25,000.

The case remains under investigation by the Glendale Police Department.
