A Los Angeles couple was charged today in connection with the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Pacific Palisades, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Marna Miller said Marguerite Dao Vuong (dob 8/7/47) is charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and Michael Vuong (6/10/47) is charged with one count of accessory to hit and run causing death in case SA087516.

The Vuongs are scheduled for arraignment tomorrow, May 30, in Department 144 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch.

On Dec. 27, 2013, David Pregerson, 23, was walking on the 600 block of Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades when he was hit by a vehicle allegedly being driven by Marguerite Vuong. Michael Vuong is accused of then trying to help his wife avoid prosecution.

The victim succumbed to his injuries four days later.

If convicted as charged, Marguerite Vuong faces four years in state prison and her husband faces up to three years in county jail.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Olympic Station.
