A man who won funding for a product he pitched on the TV show “Shark Tank” has been charged with threatening a man with a firearm, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Michael Philip Barzman (dob 1/7/78) of Burbank pleaded not guilty today to one felony count each of assault with a firearm and criminal threats.

Barzman is scheduled back in court on Aug. 25 in Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Burbank Branch. Case GA099225 was filed on July 12.

On July 2, the defendant allegedly threatened and pointed a gun at a man who was smoking outside of a business near Barzman’s apartment, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, Barzman faces a possible maximum sentence of 14 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Burbank Police Department.
