February 16, 2017: 92-Year-Old Man Charged with Domestic Violence Killing of Wife

A 92-year-old Los Angeles man was charged today with voluntary manslaughter for allegedly killing his 72-year-old wife on Valentine’s Day, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Carven Nathaniel Kendrick (dob 12/17/24) is charged in case BA454629. The complaint includes a special allegation of use of a shotgun.

Deputy District Attorney Saeed Teymouri with the Family Violence Division said arraignment is scheduled today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Kendrick is accused of shooting his wife, Jenell Kendrick, on Feb. 14 during a dispute at their home on the 1700 block of West 60th Street.

Bail is requested at more than $1 million. Kendrick faces a possible maximum sentence of 21 years in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, South Bureau Homicide Division.
