LA Police Officer Garo Garabedian is charged with assaulting a suspect and seriously injuring him while responding to a domestic violence call in 2023
LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Los Angeles Police Officer Garo Garabedian is charged with assaulting a suspect and seriously injuring him while responding to a domestic violence call in the city of Los Angeles in May 2023.
“As law enforcement officers, those entrusted with the responsibility of protecting our community must be held to the highest of standards of integrity and accountability,” said District Attorney Gascón. “Violating this trust undermines both public safety and the principles of justice that officers have sworn to uphold. No one is above the law, and we will pursue justice in this case to maintain the public’s faith in those who serve and protect.”

On May 29, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., LAPD Officer Garabedian, along with other officers, responded to a domestic violence incident at a residence in the city of Los Angeles. While arresting a male suspect, Garabedian allegedly assaulted him resulting in serious injuries.
Garabedian is scheduled for arraignment on November 21 in Dept. 30 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center Courthouse.
If convicted as charged, Garabedian faces a maximum of six years and eight months in prison.
The case is being prosecuted by LADA’s Justice System Integrity Division and investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
