Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that his office’s Bureau of Victim Services continues to serve the families of those who were killed or injured in the mass shooting at Monterey Park on Saturday night, now as the leading victim support agency.

“We are grateful for the quick collaboration between our local, state and national partners in supporting the Monterey Park community. Our Victim Services Bureau representatives arrived in Monterey Park yesterday, are here today, and they will be here for as long as the victims of this tragedy need support,” District Attorney Gascón said. “We will help anyone who needs it and work to process their applications for state Victims Compensation funds, connect them with local social workers, doctors and mental health providers to ensure that those who are struggling have everything they need in the coming months. Interpreters are available in multiple languages and there is no residency or citizenship requirement to secure support. We encourage anyone affected by this tragedy to visit the Center or reach out to our office for assistance.”

The Bureau of Victim Services (BVS) established a Family Services Center in the Monterey Park community yesterday at Langley Senior Center, alongside the City of Monterey Park, FBI, Red Cross, Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Department of Mental Health, (DMH) and the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team from the City of Los Angeles. The Bureau of Victim Services is now the leading victim service provider on site, ensuring the Family Services Center is staffed with representatives who are specially trained to help people affected by violent crime, emotional support dogs for survivors, and has worked with the Red Cross to mobilize Cantonese and Mandarin interpreters.

The Bureau will assign services representatives to visit hospitals in the coming days to provide any help to those who were injured, once law enforcement investigations are complete.

The Family Assistance Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily, and is located at Langley Senior Citizen Center, 400 W Emerson Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754. If anyone needs assistance by phone, they can call BVS at (800) 380-3811. The Bureau of Victim Services provides a wide range of free services, including crisis intervention, counseling referrals, court escort and orientation and restitution assistance. Assistance is available in multiple languages for victims, next of kin, and witnesses. There is no legal residency or citizenship requirement to receive services.
