January 10, 2022: Woman, Two Men Charged with Supermarket Shooting
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that two men and a woman were charged today with shooting into a South Los Angeles supermarket, injuring six people.
Beverly Surratt (dob 9/13/93), Juwann Keaire Williams (dob 7/17/03) and Marquae Yoakum (dob 3/17/01) face one felony count each of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of attempted murder and six counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Arraignment for Surratt in case TA156427 is scheduled today in Department 12 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Branch. The other two defendants remain at large.
Surratt reportedly got into an argument with another shopper while in line at a register on New Year’s Eve. The defendant left the store in the 10200 block of S. Avalon Blvd and met at a house with Williams and Yoakum, who are charged with then going to the store and firing a dozen times into the supermarket. The victims were not gravely injured.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Southeast Division.
