September 16, 2013: Deputy Charged with Sexually Molesting a Teen Girl

A 43-year-old Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was charged today with multiple counts of child sexual molestation for allegedly having a sexual relationship with the teenage girl of a family he knew socially.

John Augustus Rose II (dob 1-11-70) is scheduled to be arraigned sometime after 1:30 p.m. at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30, in case BA416253. Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $605,000.

Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon with the Justice System Integrity Division said Rose allegedly began a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl beginning in March and continuing through June.

Rose, who has been with the department 22 years, is charged with 17 felony counts, including four counts of lewd act on a child, six counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object, five counts of oral copulation of a person under 16, one count of contact with a minor for sexual offense and one count of possession of matter depicting minor engaging in sexual conduct.

If convicted, Rose faces more than 13 years in state prison, Alarcon said.
