PANORAMA CITY, CA — A Panorama City man was charged today with killing his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son whose body was found in a dumpster last week, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

“This is truly a heartbreaking and horrific case, and our deepest sympathies go out to the young victim’s family,” said District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “We are committed to seeking justice  and will ensure this defendant is held responsible for his actions.”

Brycson Malik Gaddis (10/10/2004) faces one felony count each of murder, and assault on a child causing death.

Arraignment in case 25VWCF01138 was continued to Aug. 18 in Department 100 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. Bail was set at $2 million.

On July 11, Gaddis allegedly beat the child to death in an apartment located in the 14500 block of Lanark Street in Panorama City, prosecutors said. The boy’s body was found the next day in a commercial parking lot dumpster.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney MacKenzie Teymouri of the Family Violence Division’s Complex Child Abuse Section and remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Division.

The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
