September 19, 2024: District Attorney Gascón Announces Los Angeles Attorney Charged with Embezzling $4.8 Million in Client Funds

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced grand theft and embezzlement charges against prominent Los Angeles divorce attorney Evie Jeang for allegedly stealing approximately $4.8 million from a client trust account between September 2015 and May 2017 and subsequently filing a false bank statement in court to cover up the theft.

CUDAHY, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Cardoso is charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at his home in the city of Cudahy in June 2022.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today published a new video highlighting the case of Miguel Solorio, who was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. He spent 25 years in custody for a crime he did not commit.

September 13, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Man Sentenced to Life in Prison Without Parole in Venice Murder and Sexual Assaults

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced that Anthony Francisco Jones was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder and sexual assault of one woman and the sexual assault of another woman in the Venice Canals neighborhood on April 6.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced that on September 11, Leonel Gutierrez entered a formal open plea of guilty to all charges and allegations alleged against him in the attempted robbery of actor Johnny Wactor on May 25 in downtown Los Angeles, as well as a separate grand theft that same evening.

September 10, 2024: Shawn Laval Smith Found Guilty of Murdering a Furniture Store Employee in Hancock Park

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that Shawn Laval Smith was convicted today in the guilt phase of killing 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer while she worked at a furniture store in Hancock Park in 2022.

September 4, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Two Men in the Murder of Music Manager Robert Dehnoushi in Glendale

GLENDALE, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Jerry Tolentino and Aram Martinyan were charged with the murder of Robert Dehnoushi, a 54-year-old music promoter and businessman, who was shot in a strip mall parking lot on August 15 in the city of Glendale. Mr. Dehnoushi was well-regarded in the Iranian American community as the promoter for singer Googoosh, a prolific artist.
