A man and a woman were charged today with having three teenage girls perform sexual acts for money, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Mycal Brandon Ruff (dob 8/10/88) of Carson and Dezere Renee Romero (dob 12/2/88) of San Bernardino were each charged in case BA489810 with three counts of human trafficking of a minor for a commercial sex act.

Arraignment is scheduled for Romero today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Arraignment is set for Ruff on September 21.

Deputy District Attorney Presciliano Duran of the Human Sex Trafficking Section, Sex Crimes Division, is prosecuting the case.

Between April and August of this year, Ruff and Romero are accused of causing the three victims, ages 15 through 17, to engage in commercial sex work to benefit the defendants. The girls also were reported as missing persons from their hometowns.

If convicted as charged, Ruff and Romero each face a possible maximum sentence of 17 years and four months in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.
