A 42-year-old man has admitted assaulting a man at a Covina bar bathroom in 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Vidal Larios Jr. of Glendale pleaded no contest yesterday to one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, a glass mug, and admitted causing great bodily injury to the victim.

Deputy District Attorney Judith M. Donovan said the defendant was immediately sentenced to 11 years in state prison.

On Aug. 17, 2018, Larios Jr. was at a bar on the 900 block of N. Azusa Avenue when he armed himself with a glass mug and followed a man into the bathroom and attacked him, the prosecutor said. The defendant attacked the victim because he allegedly thought the man had checked his girlfriend out, the prosecutor added.

Case KA119141 was investigated by the Covina Police Department.
