A man was charged today with possessing child pornography and taking inappropriate photos of girls at two elementary schools where he was a substitute teacher, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Rubio Ramiro Gonzalez (dob 3/16/75) was charged in case BA488114 with one felony count of possessing child pornography and four misdemeanor counts of annoying or molesting a child.

His arraignment is scheduled for August 28 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson of the Cyber Crime Division is prosecuting the case.

The defendant, a Pomona city councilman and substitute teacher, is accused of taking inappropriate pictures of female students at Cortez and Arroyo elementary schools in Pomona. He also allegedly had child pornography images in his email accounts.

Gonzalez was arrested last month.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in custody.

The case remains under investigation by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.
