November 22, 2023: Man Charged in Fatal Shooting at Pasadena’s Washington Park
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today criminal charges in the gunshot death of a man and attempted murder of a second victim at Washington Park in Pasadena.
“I want to express deep condolences to the family of the individual who died and unwavering support for the wounded victim,” District Attorney Gascón said. “These violent senseless acts have no place in our communities, especially at a public park where families could be present. We continue in our commitment to combatting gun violence and will vigorously pursue justice for the victims and their families, while ensuring the safety and security of all of our residents.”
Aaron Miguel Conell (dob 11/10/99) of Pasadena was charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder, and assault with a semiautomatic firearm, with allegations on all counts. Conell is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 27, Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. Bail has been set at 4.025 million dollars.
He faces more than 50 years to life in state prison if convicted on all counts.
On Oct. 29, at 2:18 a.m., officers responded to gunshots at Washington Park, 700 E. Washington Blvd., and found a man shot in the neck with life-threatening injuries.
On Nov. 5, at 9:25 p.m. Conell is accused of walking up to a car and pointing a gun at a man seated in the driver’s seat at a gas station in Pasadena.
On Nov. 18, at 4:10 a.m. officers responded to shots fired at Washington Park and found a man with gunshot wounds who died at the scene.
Case 23PDCF00017 was investigated by the Pasadena Police Department.
