Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that a North Hollywood man has been charged with assaulting his young son and causing severe injuries.

“The physical abuse suffered by this young boy is horrifying. That the alleged perpetrator is the child’s father is unconscionable," District Attorney Gascón said. “The harm inflicted in this case warrants that special allegations be filed. My office is committed to protecting our children by holding accountable anyone who abuses them.”

Cesar Daniel Cabrera Jr. (dob 12/10/01) of North Hollywood is charged with one felony count each of assault on a child that would likely result in the child becoming comatose or paralyzed and child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury. The charges include special allegations of personal infliction of great bodily injury to a child under the age of 5 and felony offense while out on bail or own recognizance.

The alleged assault took place on March 22, 2022.

Cabrera is expected to be arraigned in case LA097597 on September 13 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
