August 22, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man Who Shot Another Man with a Pellet Gun at a Chatsworth Gas Station
Joshua Morales, 32, is charged with attempted murder in August 20 attack
CHATSWORTH, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Joshua Morales is charged with allegedly shooting a man in the back of his head as he was pumping gas at a Speedway gas station in the city of Chatsworth on August 20.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and his family following this senseless and tragic incident,” said District Attorney Gascón. “No one should ever have to worry about being randomly attacked while simply going about their daily lives. This cowardly act of violence is shocking and unacceptable. Our office is committed to working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served for the victim and his loved ones.”
Joshua Steven Morales (dob 4/9/92) is charged in case 24SFCF01181 with one count of attempted murder.
It is further alleged that Morales used a pellet gun in the commission of the crime.
On August 20, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Morales allegedly randomly shot a man in the back of the head using a pellet gun as he was pumping gas at a Speedway gas station in the city of Chatsworth.
The victim, who did not know Morales, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The People are recommending that Morales be held on $1,045,000 bail. If convicted as charged, Morales faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
