January 11, 2024: D.A. Gascón Announces Charges Against Intoxicated Driver in Los Angeles Who Killed Three Family Members on New Year’s Eve
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced charges against Jordan Kahari Isaac who killed three people while driving under the influence of alcohol in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.
“Mr. Isaac’s negligence and disregard for the safety of others resulted in the tragic death of a father, mother and their five-year-old child,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Not only was this young family destroyed, but left behind a one-year-old who was also injured in the crash and now left to live a life without their family. Such reckless actions demand severe consequences, and I hope others learn from this senseless tragedy.”
Jordan Kahari Isaac (dob 04/11/01) is charged in case 24CJCF00168 with three counts of murder; three counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; one count of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury; and one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person.
It is further alleged that during the commission of the crime, Isaac personally inflicted great bodily injury on a person while personally using a motor vehicle.
Isaac is scheduled to be arraigned February 15 in Dept. 30 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
On December 31, 2023, the defendant allegedly operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated and collided into a vehicle causing injury to one victim before he fled the scene. It is further alleged that defendant continued driving and collided into a second vehicle killing three victims and injuring another while travelling over 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Isaac allegedly ran through a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle, killing two adults and their five-year-old child. A one-year-old child was injured but survived.
Bail is set at $6.1 million.
If convicted as charged, Isaac will face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
