SOUTH PASADENA, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Josh Edward Atkins and Bikramjot Singh Padda are charged with burglarizing and killing Susan Miller at her South Pasadena home in June. According to prosecutors, Padda is Miller’s grandson.
“Our hearts are with Ms. Susan Miller’s loved ones as they continue to navigate this senseless violence and loss,” District Attorney Gascón said. “The loss is made even more painful by the fact that one of the defendants involved is the victim’s grandson. Prosecutors from our office’s Major Crimes Division are working diligently to ensure that both defendants are fully held accountable for their heinous actions in Ms. Miller’s death.”
Josh Edward Atkins (DOB: 5/2/80) and Bikramjot Singh Padda (DOB: 4/3/96) are charged in case 24CJCF07060 with one count each of murder; and one felony count each of first-degree residential burglary with person present.
It is further alleged that Atkins personally used a knife in the commission of the crime. It also is alleged that another person, other than the accomplice, was present during the commission of the burglary.
Both Atkins and Padda are scheduled to be arraigned December 19 in Dept. 30 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
