August 11, 2023: Bakersfield Woman Charged with Attack on Watts Taco Stand Workers
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Renee Latrice Hines has been charged with assaulting two taco stand workers in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Watts.
“The senseless attacks that continue to harm street vendors in our community are unacceptable and have no place in our diverse county,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Street vendors should not have to endure violence while simply trying to earn a living.”
Renee Latrice Hines (03/11/87) was charged in case TA160685 with one count of use of tear gas; two counts of battery; and two counts of unlawful possession of tear gas.
Hines pleaded not guilty at an arraignment today in Dept. 12 of the Compton Courthouse. A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for August 25 in Dept. 14 of the Compton Courthouse.
On August 6, 2023, Hines allegedly pepper sprayed two taco stand vendors at a stand located at Grandee Avenue and East 103rd Street and allegedly struck one of the victims in the head.
Hines was arrested on August 9 in Bakersfield, CA is currently in custody in Los Angeles County.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
