October 23, 2024: Man Sentenced to Life in Prison Without the Possibility of Parole for 1988 Kidnap, Rape, Murder of Lois Haro

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Ronald Anthony Jones has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting death of 26-year-old Lois Haro, who was raped and killed after being kidnapped in 1988 by Jones and his accomplice. The sentence, based on the jury’s verdict in case A578017, was reached Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court Department 109.

October 22, 2024: James Louis Boyd III Sentenced to 50 Years to Life in Prison for Assault on Two Hawthorne Police Officers

TORRANCE, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced that James Louis Boyd III was sentenced by Judge Hector Guzman to 50 years to life plus nine years and four months in prison for violently assaulting two Hawthorne police officers who were responding to a domestic dispute call in April 2019.

October 18, 2024: Three Men Charged in Violent West LA Follow-Home Robbery; One Victim Critically Wounded

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that three men have been charged in connection with a follow-home attempted armed robbery in West Los Angeles that left one victim critically injured and one suspect dead.

 

October 18, 2024: Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Awarded $1.7 Million Grant for DUI Training and Prosecution

LOS ANGELES -Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) — through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration — has awarded a $1.7 million grant to the District Attorney’s Office for DUI training and prosecution.

October 18, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man in Drugging, Sexual Assault of Nine Women, and Murder in LA County

LOS ANGELES COUNTY - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Michael DiGiorgio is charged with allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting 9 women at his Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach homes between 2019 and 2021. One of the women died by the alleged drugging.

October 17, 2024: Three Relatives Sentenced for Bilking $222,793 From Dozens of Victims for Fraudulent Immigration Services in L. A.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón today announced that three members of a South Los Angeles family—Judith Gil, Oscar Mauricio Gil and Minerva Gil—were sentenced October 15 for scamming 73 immigrants by unlawfully providing legal services for residency or work permits. The trio was sentenced by Judge Drew E. Edwards to pay total restitution of $222,793 to the victims in addition to 10 years of probation.

October 11, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Mother in the Death of Her Three-Month-Old Baby in Porter Ranch

PORTER RANCH, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Jalyn Simone SmithJermott is charged with murdering her three-month-old baby in the city of Porter Ranch. The baby’s father, Eric Shannon Johnson also is charged in the case with child abuse.

October 11, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Plea and 15-Year-to-Life Sentence in Sexual Assault of Two Boys in Los Angeles County

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that on October 9, Andrew Sandoval was sentenced by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Margaret Bernal to 15 years to life on each count, to be served concurrently. Sandoval pleaded no contest in case 24DWCF00722 to two felony counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years or younger.
