Pleads to Grand Theft

POMONA – The former general manager of the Shilo Inn Hotel in
Pomona today pleaded to charges of grand theft, the District
Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney David Lopez
of Pomona Branch Office said Heinz Juergen Gehner, 68, pleaded no
contest to three counts of grand theft of personal property. The
defendant also admitted excessive-taking allegations.
Judge Mike Camacho ordered the defendant to return for sentencing
on Feb. 11 in Department N of Pomona Superior Court. He faces a
state prison term of four years, four months. The defendant also
will be expected to pay $311,412.36 in restitution to the Shilo Inn
Gehner was charged in a felony complaint for arrest warrant on
Oct. 13, 2009. The defendant allegedly used several scams to
embezzle more than $290,000 in money and hotel services, prosecutors
