POMONA – The former general manager of the Shilo Inn Hotel in Pomona today pleaded to charges of grand theft, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney David Lopez of Pomona Branch Office said Heinz Juergen Gehner, 68, pleaded no contest to three counts of grand theft of personal property. The defendant also admitted excessive-taking allegations.

Judge Mike Camacho ordered the defendant to return for sentencing on Feb. 11 in Department N of Pomona Superior Court. He faces a state prison term of four years, four months. The defendant also will be expected to pay $311,412.36 in restitution to the Shilo Inn Hotel.

Gehner was charged in a felony complaint for arrest warrant on Oct. 13, 2009. The defendant allegedly used several scams to embezzle more than $290,000 in money and hotel services, prosecutors said.
