LOS ANGELES – A former Inglewood police officer accused of
pointing a firearm at a motorist while off-duty pleaded today, the
District Attorney’s Office announced.Deputy District Attorney Amy
Pellman Pentz of the Justice System Integrity Division said Michael
Lewis Robinson, 44, pleaded no contest to one felony count of
brandishing at a person in a motor vehicle and one misdemeanor count
of assault with a deadly weapon.
Robinson entered the plea before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge
David Horwitz. The defendant was ordered to return for sentencing on
May 19, 2011.
Under the terms of a negotiated plea agreement, the defendant is
expected to do 250 hours of community service and complete an anger
management program. Upon meeting those two conditions, he will be
sentenced to three years probation.
The charges stem from an incident on March 31, 2008, during which
Robinson allegedly flashed a firearm in a threatening manner at
another motorist on the 405 freeway. The defendant’s two children,
then ages 6 and 11, were in the vehicle at the time, prosecutors
said.
