LOS ANGELES – The middle school assistant principal charged last month with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl now faces eight new counts for allegedly molesting two other victims.

Deputy District Attorney Darci Lanphere of Sex Crimes Division said the felony complaint against Steve Thomas Rooney, 39 (dob 12/2/68), was amended to add four counts of lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15 and four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Rooney, whose preliminary hearing was continued today to April 30, is due back midweek at Los Angeles Superior Court, Dept. 30.

The amended complaint alleges that Rooney sexually assaulted two additional victims. The complaint states that Rooney began molesting one victim in October 2005, when the girl was 15, and continued through November 2006. Prosecutors allege that two of the three victims named in the complaint were assaulted between Jan. 1 and March 1, 2008.

Last month, Rooney was charged with three counts of forcible lewd act upon a child and two counts of lewd act upon a child.
