LONG BEACH – A 48-year-old Huntington Beach man suspected of detonating an explosive device in an occupied parking structure last October pleaded today to a single felony count.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Suzukawa of Long Beach Branch Office said William Joseph Peltier pleaded no contest to use of a destructive device and explosive to injure and/or destroy.

The defendant, who faces a maximum of seven years in state prison, was ordered to complete a 90-day diagnostic assessment before returning to court on June 12.

Authorities believe that Peltier detonated a pipe bomb inside the parking structure above Rock Bottom Brewery in Long Beach on Oct. 20, 2007. The blast shook the building, neighboring buildings and damaged two vehicles.
