LOS ANGELES – After a day and a half of deliberations, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury convicted a 21-year-old Pacoima woman of killing her newborn baby.   

Deputy District Attorney Ronda Brody of San Fernando Branch Office said the jury found Jeanne Hofer Ma guilty of second-degree murder and guilty of child abuse causing death.  Judge William R. Pounders presided over the month-long trial.

Proceedings will resume on Feb. 22 to determine whether the defendant was sane or insane at the time the alleged crime occurred.
